&&PETS I'm thinking about adding pets to the store. Is that something people want? What types of pets? interactive or no? Please voice your opinions below. |

Averi Grace how much do you think is a reasonable price for something like that? And what about different breeds? Do we want them to be breedable? Is that something you or others would be interested in? |

I personally think it'd be awesome if someone actually ran the pet store <3 I mean it'd be up to the individual RPer, but it'd be cool. It COULD even be that the RPer owning the pet store has to buy their own stock sorta like from the council with their money, then the RPer who wants the pet donates/buys from them, instead of the primary shop itself selling the animals. I kinda wanted Riley to open up a shop herself. =x Not a pet shop, but something else.
I also think that since animals are breedable in real life, it could be fun to have baby puppies or horses around. But I think having new baby animals should cost a portion of whatever they paid for the animal. So say they paid four hundred for their female dog, and this dog has puppies. They could pay 100 per puppy, or something? Because in real life it would cost money to properly care for new puppies. Money in food alone, if not in vet bills/shots. And in part that could keep people active and keep the number of animals sort of under control.
But maybe there could be a spontaneous, sorta admin-inspired offer? Kinda mini plots, like someone would be allowed to find a stray pup or something? Because that, too, happens in real life. And so does having a dog get pregnant without intentionally breeding it.
I'm not against people doing whatever they want in a RP- if they want a dog they should be able to have it. I just think the bank/economy on this site is really really cool and worth expanding on.

Therein lies the struggle doesn't it? I'd love to explore the potential for an in game economy and I definitely want people to open stores if they'd like. But it can be difficult to find a good balance between that and allowing people to rp the characters and situations they want. Additionally, going too all out on an in game economy would likely require more staff then we currently have (It'd be difficult for me to process all the transactions myself), or better use of the money/store coding which I am still learning how to use.
I definitely think this is a subject that merits further discussion. |

I think it would be very cool to buy pets, and as was just suggested, it would be fun to find strays in game as an event or mini plot. If we could buy them, I think whatever the monetary equivalent to around 75 posts is would be reasonable for a horse or large type pet, and around 50 for dogs/cats/smaller type pets. Possibly more.
Also, if we breed them, the breeding or number of offspring should probably be controlled by a staff member or whoever will be in charge of this pet portion of the site. For instance, who ever is in charge of 'selling' the pets might charge a breeding fee, or eventually they might decide not to allow a certain species to breed for a time if the population gets out of control? Along the same lines, they might decide, based on the current pet population, how many puppies Fido may have? Alternatively, different little sizes could cost more. I.e. a puppy litter of 3 would cost the equivalent of 100 posts, a litter size of 4 would cost the equivalent of 150 posts, and so on.
I'm not sure how much of that made sense ^_^

I love the idea of adding pets to the store. Breeding would be nice, and add a fun new adoption type rp to the site. I also think the different breed idea is cool. Maybe different breeds could have different prices.
For prices I did a little bit of research:
The best I found for all of this is by the ASPCA located here.
That pretty much sums up a lot of different animal prices.

Okay, so definitely seems like something people are interested in. I'm going to work on figuring out a system that will work with our site. In the meantime feel free to keep posting breed/species requests and other suggestions here.
