Averi stood first on tiptoes, then stepped lightly onto a rustic stool to better reach the fruit hanging from the apple tree. This was her favorite part of the summer harvest, the apple orchard. There had been an apple tree near her cabin in Askion, and the fruit brought with it a sense of comfort. She easily plucked each fruit from where it hung, and dropped it lightly in the woven basket she carried with her. She picked what she could reach with her 5'4" frame, knowing that another, taller farmer would come later and finish with the one's she couldn't. She picked several more of the ripe fruit, then stepped again off of the stool.
She placed the basket, growing heavy with fruit, at her feet and sat upon the stool, close to the ground. She placed her chin on her hand, gazing at the orchard around her. The tall trees, branches heavy with fruit and intertwining with each other so that it was hard to tell where one tree began and ended. A breeze rustling the leaves and creating a soft kind of music. It was still early in the day and the breeze was still yet cool. She had left her dorm room early; she was still unused to being around people other than her father, and it make her uncomfortable to sit there for very long. She was much more comfortable out here, beneath the trees.

BRONWEN ELIZABETH ASHWORTH "Adventure is worthwhile in itself." —Amelia Earhart
________________________________
At first Bronwen had though Eden would be nice, far away from the trouble of everyday lives. Far away from elders and adults telling what to do, say or think.
The girl of nineteen thought it would have been a safe haven. She had been thrilled when she found out where she was going, and that she was the only one out of her family to be chosen.
But it wasn't anything special. A bunch of young people struck on a planet with minimal job experience told to start a society and not get killed in the process. Sounded easy. Of course, The Council must have some reason to think it would work. A reason she hadn't a clue about, but The Council had to have it.
Crossing her arms the technician began to walk towards the farmlands. Bronwen no idea why. She absolutely hated farms, being from Asnarth she was accustomed to the city.
Not wanting to turn around she continued on towards the apple orchids in the distance. A few figured gathered the fruit, but one in particular was sitting down, head in hand, and seemed to be lost in the trees.
Now curious as to the farmer's identity Bronwen called out a greeting.
"This planet's gorgeous, but it doesn't seem to home just yet..."
She continued to walk towards the stranger, grabbing an apple from a tree next to herself as she passed it. Then, when she was close enough to begin a decent conversation she pulled in another stool that had been haphazardly laying besides another tree.
"I'm Bronwen."

Averi glanced over in surprise; somehow she hadn't heard the other girl approaching. I must have been daydreaming again. She smiled shyly, "Hi, I'm Averi. You're right, it's not quite home. It still feels a little odd to me, being here." She wasn't quite sure why she added that last part, as she wasn't usually one to talk about, well anything related to herself or how she felt. It was true though; as pretty as this planet was, there was a bit of oddness about it, although that was probably just due to the fact that she was displaced from the only place she'd spent an entire 19 years, and dropped here.
And then, because she wasn't sure just what else to say, "At home, I always knew just what I was supposed to be doing. Here, I'm not so sure. I mean, we all have a general idea of what we're supposed to do.."She shrugged. "But for some reason, the details feel fuzzy to me." Aware she was rambling, and almost certaintly not making any sense, she shut up, her cheeks feeling warm despite the cool air. Because she felt better when she had something to do with her hands, she plucked an apple out of her basket and twisted the step off slowly, focusing her gaze on that.
