To be who we want. But what if he didn't really know what he wanted to be? He had thought he wanted to be someone his parents would be proud of, but he'd spent twenty two years failing at that, maybe he should try something else. He wondered for what must have been the hundredth time what this new society would be like. With so many different people he wasn't even sure how this could work. There had been so many rules on Ruria. Many unspoken. But here things seemed less rigid, and he wasn't really sure who he was without someone telling him who to be.
"You think it'll be warm enough for swimming soon?" He asked. He had never been much of a swimmer back home, but new beginnings and all. Plus he had spotted what he thought might be an island, and that was yet another new thing he wanted to check out.

Olive sat there, for once, she enjoyed the silence. Normally, she would get quite awkward and try and make some conversation, but today, it just felt right. It was a new world for them, some silence was well deserved. There was so many unknowns, so many things that could blow up in their faces. For once no one could tell them what would happen, there was no council to govern them. They were quite literally as free as they could ever be. It was intimidating. But at the same time... exciting. To be the start of something new like this was amazing, or so Olive thought. She was sure some would disagree.
As he once again spoke, breaking the comfortable silence surrounding them, she once again focused back in on her companion. "Well from how long we have been here, it seems like the temperatures are warming up. So I assume quite soon that it would be swimmable. You could just hop in now." she told him with a grin. If she knew him better or if he was her brother, she would have pushed him in by now. But since they had just met, she behaved.

Petrica thought about what she said. He supposed it was true. The water was cold, but as he kicked his feet some more he realized that it wasn't quite so bad once you got used to it. And he did really want to see an island up close for the first time. Making his decision and letting impulsiveness take the lead for once he stood, making quick work of taking off his flannel and t shirt. It was going to suck walking back to town in wet jeans but whatever. Taking a few steps back, he then ran forward and jumped. He was graceless and splashed a lot and when the water hit him it was almost shockingly cold but he came up with a smile and a laugh. Really enjoying himself for what may have been the first time since getting to Eden.

As they sat there, quiet enveloped them again. But within moments it seemed that Petrica had considered her words and decided to go for it. She was actually impressed with his random impulse to jump in, and clapped as he did so, cheering for him. As he popped up out of the water laughing, Olive laughed with him, giving him a round of applause. "How is it?!" she asked him, the smile still across her face.
Standing up herself, she pulled her shirt off, wearing only her bra, but hey, a bra was the same thing as a bikini in her mind. Not to mention she wanted at least one dry item of clothing on her walk back. Backing up, she too took a run at the water, diving in past Petrica. The water was cool, but being surrounded by it made her forget the coolness. Popping up she wiped her eyes and looked back to where Petrica swam. "It's not to bad. Nice to be in the water."

Petrica was surprised when Olive followed him into the water, but then he shouldn't have been. She was from Tunia and had already confessed to loving water. "Yeah, it was pretty cold at first but now it's not too bad" he responded. "Probably shouldn't stay in too long though, don't want to get sick. I hate being sick." He remembered one time he'd gotten a flu or something and his parents had made him stay inside for a week. It had driven him crazy, he'd hated being cooped up and unable to check on his animals. His dad had made sure they were okay while he was out, but he liked taking care of them so he missed it anyways. "Have you been to any of the islands yet? I'd never seen an island before I came here" He said gesturing towards one of the islands.

Olive treaded the water, it felt like home. The water caressed her, covering her like a warm safety blanket. It was wonderful. Truth be told, she barely felt the cold, it was like her body automatically adjusted, just glad to be back in an element it was familiar with. "Its crazy how fast your body can adjust. I dont feel cold at all." she told him with a grin, moving closer towards him. At his mention of getting sick, she grinned, she had never been sick from the water. Or maybe she had, but off the top of her head, she couldn't remember a time. If she were to get sick it was always due to catching it from another. "Yes, I suppose you are right, although I think I can stay in for a fair bit before I have to worry about that." she told him, her eyes twinkling. Looking to the islands he was talking about, she couldn't deny her piqued curiosity. She loved an adventure. "No, I haven't been. Think its to far to swim?" she questioned, her body turning towards the island, humming in anticipation at the thought of a random time. "No time like the present to see one." she added.

Petrica hadn't been the best swimmer back home. He definitely hadn't been the worst, but again not the best. He'd never swam in a body of water this big before, so he'd never swam a distance as far as it was from the dock to the island. But he did do a lot of hard work around farms so he figured he wouldn't be too tired out by a swim like this. And besides, he was good at floating so he figured if he got tired out he could just float for a while till he wasn't tired anymore. 'No time like the present to see one.' He had no idea where this impulsive energy was coming from, it wasn't like him at all. But he figured maybe this is what happens when you move to a new place and leave behind everything and everyone you've ever known. You become a bit different. "Let's do it" He said, grinning.

Truthfully, Olive doubted that her new found acquaintance would be up for swimming the fair distance to the islands. After all there was so many variables to consider, predators in the water, drowning, tiring, of the island is farther than expected. But despite those possible dangerous arising situations, he was all for swimming out there. The randomness excited her, and she felt her body thump with even more energy. It was begging for the challenge of getting there and back. She definitely wouldn't turn back now, she didn't think she even could if she wanted. "Yes let's." she agreed, her eyes flashing with anticipation. Turning her back to him, she faced down the distance, a smile playing across her lips. She was ready. Glancing back once at him, she propelled herself forwards in the water, her arms breaking the water pulling her forward, he legs giving her speed. She wasn't trying to swim her hardest, because she didn't want to get tired, and she wasn't sure of his own swimming level and didn't want to get ahead. As she moved forward she finally stopped after a couple minutes, allowing herself to catch her breath and check that she indeed was going in the right direction.

It seemed impulsiveness was catching because she agreed that they should try to swim to the island. When she turned and began swimming he took a moment to be impressed with the speed and grace with which she swam. But only a moment, because then he realized if he continued just treading there watching he would be likely to get left behind. In comparison his own swimming style... lacked style. He splashed too much and generally just felt clumsy and graceless. He didn't like putting his face in the water for long because he knew if he did he'd wind up headed in the wrong direction, but keeping his head out of the water slowed him down. Years of hard farm work had built him a good base of muscle though, so with effort he was managing to keep up alright.

As she slowed and turned, she was pleasantly surprised to see him not far behind her. Not that she doubted him, but when he had mentioned not being near a water body such as this, she assumed he didn't have much to do with water in general. And therefore wasn't a swimmer. She grinned at him, treading water as she watched him near her. "Still good to go?" she questioned excitedly, wanting to make sure he still wanted to go to the island. She wouldn't force him, but she was rather intrigued by the adventure it presented them, allowing them to explore their new home. She wanted to make the most of her move to Eden, after all, it was a new start. Turning to face the island again, she pushed the water with her arms, allowing herself to stay above the water. "Maybe people live out here, or maybe there is something crazy there that we can bring back and show people." she continued on, flashing him another smile. Slowly she began to pull herself towards the island again, keeping a slower pace as to not tire herself. She wanted to make it there, just like she wanted to have conversation. "You're a good swimmer." she added.
