Personality
Everett is used to a carefree attitude toward life. Fueled by a simplistic, childhood notion of his maternal grandfather's unshakable calm nature, Everett strives to be as carefree as his grandfather. Any annoyance, anger, or sadness feels like weakness to him. Happiness, too, at times. But don't expect him to admit that. If you're observant, you might see a flicker of negative emotion after a bright smile or tingling laughter. At any rate, being completely serene is Everett's greatest ambition.
Everett's mother is what his father affectionately calls a firecracker. She's incredibly quick to anger and she provides meaning to the term "blinded by rage". While not strictly violent, she is destructive toward objects and very harsh with her statements. Everett would instead refer to her as a tornado, sweeping everyone into the mix and tossing them back, confused and frightened by the ordeal. Everett learned from her to identify anger in others and to keep quiet, lest he suffer their wrath.
Unfortunately, a bit of that fire burns in him, sending him into displays of his temper that, coupled with a calculating nature, can lead to his fair share of provocative action toward others. Another flaw to this seemingly empathetic approach is that Everett can be a bit useless at addressing the tough topics. While he makes a great soundboard, he doesn't always have the right questions to quell someone's anger or to coax a smile through someone's tears.

History
Everett was a child of the sunshine and fish. Blue skies, bluer water, and bright red skin defined his childhood.
His mother, Railyn was the daughter of Bryce Owen, one of countless fisherman in the area. She aspired to greater things, but for the first six years after marrying and having Everett, she settled for what she had. His father, on the other hand, was a man the council seemed to favor. Or, at least, it's fair to say Ethan Emery got lucky. Rai was beautiful, independent, and fierce compared to his meek, unassuming attitude and appearance. She provided him ambition he otherwise lacked which enabled Ethan to leave the sunny blue moon, Tunia, for life in Asnarth in the technology saturated industries.
At six, with skin tanned several shades darker than many of the native children of Asnarth, Everett clung to the most outdoorsy of the children he encountered. Even with these friends, more often you'd find him spending time alone, searching for natural beauty and, more directly, free flowing water to counter the artificial lighting and LED screens that intruded into his previously unburdened life. Within that first year his mother offered another life altering announcement: she was having another baby. Everett reached his seventh birthday before the bouncing baby boy took up the majority of his small room.
It would be hard to imagine two more different upbringings. While Everett had a life on water, rocked to sleep by waves, his baby brother Elias was lulled into slumber by electric powered swings and artificial sounds of the forest. And while Everett wanted nothing more than to put on a front of a calm, tranquil nature, Elias was a free-spirited, resourceful child who'd do anything for a smile. More than anyone, Elias Emery shaped Everett's life irrevocably. Which was why he hid a smile as his mother cried at the news that not one, but both of her sons had been chosen by the council.
